West Coconut Grove as a community continuously contends with obstacles that hamper the psychological development of our communities youth and hinders students from succeeding.  Impediments include poverty, violence, segregation, under-funded schools and programs.  Additionally, the youth now must also compete with the negative consequences of gentrification in our neighborhoods.  

 

The START Program is essential, as it supports our students while they develop character and the academic skills necessary for lifelong success.
